Tepui Summit Pools - Paint by Numbers Kit

Two still pools of dark water lie across the flat top of a tepui, and each one holds a copy of the overcast sky above it. This Canaima National Park scene is built around that mirrored stillness, with slate-grey clouds pressed into the water between broad, cracked slabs of grey-mauve rock.

Past the rocky terraces, a low band of stunted olive-green shrubs follows the edge of the plateau. Beyond the cliff, another flat-topped tepui rises out of drifting white cloud in the blue-grey distance. The muted palette of cool slates, dusty mauves and mossy greens makes for calm, absorbing painting. Graduated color shifts inside the rock slabs and cloud banks give you plenty of blending to practice, and the large shapes stay easy to read. A numbered reference sheet helps you keep track of the many grey tones.

It suits hobbyists who like moody weather, beginners ready for a landscape with some depth, and anyone shopping for a traveler who dreams of Venezuela's lost-world highlands. Pick up your brush and paint the sky into the water.
